About Erika Martínez
I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I worked in marketing for 4 years. During my time in marketing, I completed my Masters degree at National Louis University.
I began teaching in the fall of 2011. For the first year and a half, I taught Spanish at several high schools ranging from inner city CPS, to a suburban high school, and then a charter school on the South Side of Chicago. I started teaching at Coonley in January of 2013.
In my free time I enjoy reading and traveling. To date, I have visited 19 different countries, most recently Cuba! I also enjoy supporting and fundraising for different philanthropies, such as the Leukemia Research Foundation, the American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Comer Children's Hospital, Mujeres Latinas en Acción, the Anhelo Project, and the Sigma Lambda Gamma Education Foundation. I have also served as President of the Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc., Chicago Metropolitan Alumnae Association.
